A friiend has a beautiful specimen in 45-70. He is trying to find the correct vernier type sight to fit the 1886. Like to keep it at $200.00 or below if possible. Anybody know of any?

Brownells lists a universal midrange and longrange tang sight in your price range. These are ment for single shot rifles but may adapt to the 86. Call their tec line to talk to some one there. The Lyman #2 is a correct sight and commonly used on 1886 Winchesters.
Little powder much lead shoots far kills dead.

I have a Marbles on my Marlin in 38-55. The suckers are not repeatable. We shoot  100 and 200. You can't dial 'em up and back. I have my Marbles set so the post is on the bottom of the target at 100 and I hit the upper third of the target. I set the post on the top edge of the 200 yard target and I get it about dead center.
He would like to have one with good windage and marked yardage.
I will get him to check on the Brownell's sight.
