Today I was out shooting my new Walker replica from Taylor's & Co. Talk about fun.

I've had an Armi San Marcos Walker since 1990, but I had a craving for a pair.

I have pictures up on my writer's page. I don't think you need to belong to facebook to see them

The term "Hand Cannon" certainly originated with them!

That's ALL?

;)

Actually, from my Dragoon (Colt 2nd Gen, 1st Mod.) 40-43 grs. provides a very good and accurate load.  When I first got my Dragoon, I wanted to try something different, so I put around 19.7 (by weight) of Goex 3f in the chamber, then put one of the 30 gr. Pyrodex pellets on top of the loose powder and seated a .454" ball - and later a .452" Buffalo Ball-et, on top of a lubed felt wad, and then greased the business end of the chamber with the old Spit-Ball commercial grease.  It was a handful.  It was the first time that I ever fired BP that barked and bucked like shooting a modern magnum with full-power loads.   That square cornered trigger guard which I think looks so cool got my knuckle "bit" at each round!  And the smoke & flames were magnificent!

No ... it wasn't necessary, nor was it practical for CAS purposes, but it'd be one heckova hunting load.  It was, surprisingly - VERY accurate to around 100-125 feet, when I ran out of range room.    I WISH I had pictures.
