bb your rabbits is aweful small in your part of the world.

as jim bridger would say meats meat.
im a meat hunter i aint aquired a taste for horn. i shot that deer wearing hand made clothing that i made, that is  correct to the period. using a  blackpowder bullet i casted and handloaded myself. heck i even made the bullet lube.
im as proud of that deer as i would be with any 160 class boone and crocket.  that day was a great hunt that i will remember for along time  :)

BB, combine the best of both worlds and get an 1876.  Course them big ole bullets would have skinned thet little feller fer ye!  Anyone ever wonder how popular those originals would have been as hunting guns?  I seriously doubt the 'Dances With Wolves' idea and by modern standards the ammunition would have even been considered inadequate for deer but in those days I bet it was a popular deer gun for the small few who managed to get one before the '73, in 44wcf,  became common.
i got me a chapperal 76 in 45-75 caliber.its a nice rifle  i would love to take hunting. but with a 8 pound trigger pull i'm having trouble getting a good group with it. i need to get the action worked on, so many projects so little time and money

I've had my Navy Arms Henry in .44-40 for nigh onto 25 years or so, an' I ain't bald. About ugly and uninteresting, I'll have to leave that to others to judge! ;)
Ride to the sound of the guns, but watch out for bushwhackers! Godspeed to all in harm's way in the defense of Freedom! God Bless America!

72 wind chill must be nice! Here in NY it's 20 and all the mice  are starting to head in my house for the winter, time to get out the traps.

Coffin maker,
My bad on the count but your number is even better!
Crestfallen over AJ and the loss of 45CS brass though.  :(
Had to check it to believe it...

Mule Ear try 45 Schofield cases, your Henry will hold 14 and you can duplicated the original Henry load.

a few years back an old miner up here had the same problem, but instead of traps he took to shooting the w/ a 22.  Unfortunately, he forgot about the blasting caps and dynamite he was storing in the loft.
