I'm getting ready to buy a .45 colt mold in the 250g rangemould. Is the lyman 454190 mold the best mold for this caliber loaded with black powder? Iam worried that the lube grooves arent large enough.

texcl,
Welcome to the forum. Are you using it in a pistol or rifle?

In a rifle.....
Swiss b.p. (more expensive) will do fine with the 454190.

For Goex and similar powders -

The "Big Lube" bullet offered by DD works very well.

For extended ranges beyond 100 yards, the Accurate Mold 45-260F would give the best accuracy......

In a handgun, the 454190 holds enough lube for the short trip.

Its a 4 3/4" model p, I'll take a look at the big lube. I have about 20+ lbs of kik 3f so I'll be using that for propellant.

I have used the 454190 for 20+ years with 0 problems in pistol or rifle.
