My S & S conversion went very well with only a very slight amount of filing.   Now how can I take the new shiny look off it so that it fits in with the old carbine?  Anyone have any suggestions?

Try this stuff . . . KleenBore Black Magic.  It will age and darken the breechblock . . . just use a little bit on a cloth and dab it on very, very lightly.  It will eliminate that shinny surface.  I used it on my Spencer Rifle to help antique it a bit.  You can get it through Amazon.com.  Read the reviews on it before ordering.
