Today I got my Winchester Model 1892 made in Japan from Lees Gunsmithing. I had a very interesting conversation with Ross, the owner. He is a Marine veteran of the war in Vietnam. He removed the rebounding hammer and lightened the trigger pull. His work is excellent and the 1892 is now an absolute joy to hold and shoot. I highly reccommend Lee Gunsmithing in Orange, CA. His prices are fair and reasonable and the wait time is acceptable. The best thing is that he is only 28 miles from my house. I was so pleased by his work that as I picked up my 1892 short rifle in caliber .44 remington magnum I handed him my 1892 trapper in caliber .357 magnum and asked for the same work to be done on it. ;D

I put 50 rds. of 240 gr. Berry plated bullets through my Model 1892 last week. The work that Lees Gunsmithing did make a enormous difference. Gone is the "thud" of the rebounding hammer, gone is the rebounding hammer. The trigger pull is light and crisp. I just wish the 44 remington magnum was as cheap to reload and shoot as the 357 magnum.......I guess even a great gunsmith can't fix that.

Would a box of 500 hardcast bullets be cheaper than the Berry Plated ones? Buy the BIG  jug of TightGroup powder?
I don't care fer the rebounding hammers either even though they are safer since an Hombre can't fergit to put it back to half cock when there''s a round in the chamber.
I have an 1886 from Japan (nice gun) with that rebounding hammer AND the safety on the tang. I like the configuration of the Browning 1886's better.
How would yer lighter crisp trigger pull be in COLD weather? Too touchy with a cold trigger finger?
Lee's Gunsmithing? Is that the illustrious Lee Shaffer?
