Gday all,
I have an original New Model Army Remington with a very slightly damaged and I am looking for a replacement hammer for it.
I tried Dixie-the sold me a Uberti hammer which does not work as the geometry of the sear notches is wrong.
I tried Peter Dyson in UK and he sells Uberti hammers.
Does any one have one surplus to requirements or know where I can find one?
I'll even pay for it :)

Cheers

Hi,

The Uberti hammer may be your only choice. A good gunsmith can TIG weld the notches and recut them in the proper places. This is a very common repair for old SAA's that have worn or broken notches. Not cheap but possibly easier than finding an original hammer in useable condition.

Good luck.

I have to assume that you are located outside of the US.
If so this might make shipping the hammer for repair troublesome but I have welded up and recut a number of SAA hammers and would be glad to try to help you out.......I also have a couple of original New Model Army's that I can compare parts with so shoot me a PM and I'll get you my contact info!
