What I have is a Rossi 92 45 Colt rifle with the typical "C" shaped with metal butt plate. Now it is fine for shooting even standard ammo however me and a few friends are shooting some pretty strong loads using 25-25.5 gr of Lil'Gun pushing a 290 gr Ranch Dog bullet. Now these will leave a mark very quickly. I'm trying to find some one to design a leather holder that will fit around a very modified limb saver to fit over the rear stock that can be removed. Now hopefully the picture I've attached will show so this is what it is. A picture of the rifle with the limb saver fitted to the over the butt plate show as grey which will need to sewn into a leather or some kind of cloth that can fit the stock of the gun. Oh and this for using the 45 Colt for hunting pigs and deer. I know of a few people that would be interested in them. Anyone up for this please PM or email (email in my profile). Thanks for looking.

Very possibly however keep in mind these are for hunters not CAS shooters so the trim won't be needed. Also these bullet/powder combos are really pushing right at the limits of a Rossi 92 or a Ruger Blackhawk so they do have some serious recoil. Also it doesn't have to be period correct but in my case easy to remove for NCOWS as it isn't needed for my black powder nor smokeless cowboy loads at all.

If a pistol cartridge levergun is leaving a mark, no offense but you're probably doing it wrong. The crescent buttplate was not designed to be placed into the pocket of the shoulder. It's designed to cup around the top of the arm, extending into the armpit.

If your load is safe in a large frame Blackhawk, it is not pushing the limits of the Rossi 92. These guns can handle pressures in the neighborhood of 50,000psi. Blackhawks should be held to 32,000psi.

This round is in the range of 32K psi to 34K psi and I'm an older man with bad shoulders to boot. A 12 ga with black powder light shot for cowboy action is about my limits. So thanks Craig but what is ok for someone your age and shape may not work with all of us an steel but plate doesn't fit my shoulder real well nor accept the shock well to say the least.
