I have viewed the info on changing the rebounding hammer on a 1892 but, I don't feel comfortable doing it.  I have hear of a gunsmith in Hearne, TX by the name of Lonnie Ammons who supposedly is quite capable making these mods. Does any one have any experience with his services? ;)

Jake MacReedy

I recommend Mr. Ammons wholeheartedly!  He is an excellent gunsmith, with a longtime great reputation here in Texas.  You will not be disappointed with his work, I guarantee.

Regards,
Jake

I have not used Lonnie myself, primarily because I have been very lucky with my guns and have not needed work beyond my capabilities.  But I have known many pards who have used his services over the years and I second Jake's recommendation.

Thank you both for your recommendation. I followed through with your advice and contacted Lonnie last week from my home in Dana Point, CA. He said that if I transported the gun to is place in Hearne, TX on Friday, October 5th, he would work on it while I waited. Here I am in a motel room in Cedar Park, TX waiting for him to return anyone of my 5 calls and no reply. I starting calling him on Wednesday and made my last call today at 9:30 pm October 4th. It is 11:07pm and I have yet to hear from him. I am disappointed to say the least. I have to leave the area by tomorrow afternoon as I have a commitment to meet my son in Dallas. Looks like I have been stood up.

Dang, Charlie, I sure hate to hear that.  Sorry for your troubles.  Hope you get the rifle straightened out one way or another.
