If you want a starter BIG bore cap lock muzzle loader to learn with and for hunting, you can't do much better than this...and the price is right out of the 1980-1985 era.  Not quite authentic to the period, but very good all the same.  I've owned four T/C percussion guns and never had a problem with any of them.

Properly loaded it is adequate for all but the biggest dangerous game (bears) on this continent.

Ya'll need to check out the 'African Zephyr' 8 bore. Dual cap ignition underhammer. Impressive.

Yeah, but not many had coil spring locks and adjustable rear sights.   ::)
