The leather wrap that came with the shotgun is not very good.  Does anyone make one for the 87 that has to be better than the one that comes with it.  Thanks, Diamond Curly

Welcome to the forum, Curly. Looking forward to your posts. Yeah, those factory wraps are not the best.

To answer your question, one solution is to simply wrap the lever with a leather thong. Choose something soft and not too thick. Start at the trigger end of the lever loop. Pull one end down the lever and wind the other one around that tightly. Tie them off at the rear of the lever. This works for any lever gun.

The Chiappa 1887's have a solid 87 style lever and will work with the standard type of lever wrap.
The problem with the IAC 1887's is that 1901 hinged lever.
I tried wrapping lace and wasn't satisfied with the way it would shift and get into the workings of that hinged part. Unfortunately that hinged part is what likes to take a bite out of you too. I went a different route. Taking a piece of leather that was originally a replacement kiltie, I cut it to the length and width I wanted and laid out my stiching holes. I used a tailors measure tape I wrapped it around the lever to get an idea of how far apart I would need to make my stitch holes. The stitch holes to not go from  one end of the leather to the other but only about 2/3. The front part is left unstitched so that it acts as a shield and leaves the hinged area unencumbered. Once I got it all stitched on, I trimmed off the excess leather. It works well for me.
