Hell on Wheels has gotten better. But hey its the only western we have going now. So I'll watch it to the end. Into The West was fairly good mini series. It is at least mostly historically correct in its back drop for the story line.

IMO...Not even close to being on the same planet... as "DEADWOOD"...allow I did not care for all the foul language in Deadwood...IMO wasn't needed...Great series and I own Series three.

I just got back from a trip across the Great Divide to Alberta. While there, 'Rattlesnake Jack' and I did a presentation on period firearms at Fort Macleod, the NWMP Fort that features the 'Musical Ride' done by summer students. My wife did her thing on Victorian clothing as well.
We wowed the crowd, and the Fort was delighted with our interpretation, especially with Grant's NWMP guns, real and repro.
I had the joy of inspecting the Troop before their rides twice as the Scarlet-coated Mountie had to leave on a call before the official opening. This kid gave me the impression he was fresh out of the Depot at Regina and didn't even salute during the singing of "Oh, Canada". You can bet that I did!

While in Alberta ( a home coming for me as a native Calgarian) we visited Rosebud, where a son and daughter-in-law are principles in the performing arts school there. I met a young actor who had just returned from a shooting session of "Hell On Wheels" filmed on site near Okotoks. We was quite impressed with the actors he met, the film crew, etc.  He refused to divulge any info about the episode he was in with a bit role.

I had the pleasure of giving him a 'show-and-tell' with several guns I had for the Fort Macleod show, including the Open Top Colts and  Remington cap & ball guns used in the series. I had his rapt attention and encouraged him to become a gun owner so he could be more versatile as an actor.

We'll have to prevail upon Grant to post pics of our interpretation and hopefully the Fort will post some on their web site.
