In this episode I put a 225-grain conical bullet through it's paces in the Ruger Old Army Buntline.

This projectile had the best accuracy and muzzle energy of the three.

Hi Paladin.

It is a Matrix gun rest made by Caldwell

I use the same mold for my Old Army and I love it.

It's too bad that LEE doesn't make the same stepped diameter mold for .454 guns.

They do list a "450" mold. Does anyone know what that really is? There are no ".450" guns as far as I know. What might the two bands measure out to be?  Is this actually a "454" mold ?

Here are two bullets that were designed for the ROA, Remington 58 and 1860 open top guns.  They both have dual rebate bases to accommodate the variety of chamber dimensions encountered in "44 Caliber" cap and ball pistols.

The DD/PUK-Flat has proven very accurate in 45 Colt, 45 Schofield and Cowboy 45 Special cartridges.  It also works very well in 45ACP Colt 1911 semi autos.

I've shot the little EPP-UG bullet from my Thompson Center muzzle loader and it is very accurate with only 30 grains of FFFg black powder.  I like it around my place as a rodent killer. .

Dick,

I'm getting a pair of ROAs shipped in for testing. One is a 5.5" barrel, and the other is a 7.5" barrel. If you send me some of your bullets I'll test them for a video.

Mike have you ever tested the ultra lite wt bullets that AJ was selling for a while?  They no longer appear on his web site so I am guessing he dropped them before I got to give them a try but it did look interesting.  Next time I order some of the Cowboy 45 Special brass I will ask him about them.
