Hi,

I just tried to send an email to David Carrico at his  website email address .... but the computer kept telling me that there was an error in trying to send it  ... is he still doing business?
My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...

David is very much still in business.  Problem may be that he had a shoot scheduled in Moab Utah sometime this month.

cavsgt,

Thanks for the info ... I finally got through to his website late last night (in addition to the PM I sent). I await his reply and wish him only the best ....

I thought you all should know to keep David in your thoughts and prayers. His wife posted on Facebook that he has some type of pneumonia. I can't recall exactly what she said, but he is being treated at the hospital. So it might be awhile before he can respond. David is a really great person and I wish him a speedy recovery.
I apologize for not having anymore details.

Regards,

Charles B,

I was given the same info a few days ago and asked to keep it under my hat until the person giving the info spoke with his wife and got the outing of his hospital stay okayed by her ... I even got an email from him acknowledging that I would get a check in the mail.... to which I sent back an email that an old used holster would work as well, 'cause I wanted the holster to look like something a war-weary cavalryman might have on his side ....

In the meantime I have bought an 'el cheapo' Yankee style holster, vinagarooned it, and vaccuum formed it. Made a cavalryman's belt and then removed the horsehide that came on David Carrico's Confederate bowie and hooked it up to the belt ....I also stained the brand- new looking cap pouch and carbine bullet bag (For the coming Maynard rounds), staining the wood a kind of antique oak/old walnut to give it some patina ...

Howdy WWE,
I just saw it this morning on FB. He's certainly had a rough year.

P.S. The rig looks great!

Charles B,

Wearing the Grey, I think you understand why I might want one of David's C.S. holsters .... although I probably would have gotten a Yankee holster from the same 'donor' that I got the pistol from ... and it would have been a Yankee model ...

Charles, he certainly has. My wife had the big C and pneumonia is sometimes an aftershock of chemo from what I understand. The immune system is totally screwed up and suceptable to a wide spectrum of infections.

Thanks for your concerns. I'm back home now after a week in the hospital, again. Yes, I over did it. Been taking it easy this week. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.

David,

+!; get strong and healthy ... my paternal grandfather once told me he could do anything that he could when he was 18 (he was 72 at the time and still loading hay) .... he just needed more naps in between *S* ...

I think of him often and am just beginning to realize how wise that he really was ...
