I loved it when Andy or someone would try to explain something to him and he'd get that blank look on his face and say, "Say it agin".

I liked the one where he and Gomer were in Andy's office and he was doing imitations of Carey Grant and Edward G, Robinson.Gomer would say "go ahead Goob take off on Carey Grant~~And Goob would say "well ok'"  JUDY JUDY JUDY :D

Gomer would go GAWLLLY ain't "ee" good Andy? Now close your eyes Andy and you'll think Edward G. Robinson is in the room,go ahead Goob~

Wellll--- ALRIGHT CHOO GUYS,PUT "EM" UP YOU GUYS,ALRIGHT CHOO GUYS :D :D :D

'RIP' "Goober"----Without a doubt, the AG Show with all the characters is and will go down as one of the best shows ever made for TV. Years ago I VHS taped about 80% of them. My kids all grew up in the 80's and 90's watchin and lovin the show. Still talk about it and watch em. A few years ago I bought the first five seasons on DVD (which I and others believe were the best as they had Barney in them) and watch and enjoy them as if I had never seen them before. Still get laughs from them. For all yer info, the show with Gomer and Goober that GunClick adluded to, is they only one where both Gomer and Goober acted together in. A little trivia for ya! The gal who played "Skippy" (one of the 'Fun Girls') years later played 'Rose" the saloon gal in "The Outlaw Josey Wales". Anyway-sad to hear of Geroge Lindseys passing a/k/a 'Goober'. He was the perfect replacement for Gomer. Wish they both could have acted in the show. A friend who is a fellow AG Show fan and I were talking about our favorite Goober episodes after hearing of Goober. The frist one that came to me was the time Andy was thinking of leaving Mayberry and Barney was going to run for Sheriff. After Andy decided to stay and rerun for Sheriff, Barney challenged him to a debate where he proclaimed he had 76 cases of documented malfeasane against the Sheiff's office. In explaining one, Barney proclaimed that Andy hadnot kept up to times. They had no tear gas, submachine guns, or emergency equipment. Barney then with alot of flair then told everyone that all their sheriff carried in the truck of the squad car was a shovel and a rake. Goober leaned over to Andy and said "Ain't ya got a jack!"--I'm laughin as I type this. Goober was a credit to the show. "RIP Goober"!

Secondary characters often make a show.  AG was no different.  Along with Goober and Gomer and the "fun girls", you had Otis - the town drunk, Floyd the barber, Mayor Pike - "the fat little Mayor", followed by Mayor Stoner - the flip-flop Mayor, (although Mayor Pike was quite a flip-flop too).  There was Jim Lindsey - who could play lead and rhythim guitar at the same time along with making an accoustic guitar sound like an electric guitar which made him grossley under paid by Freddy Fleet and his band with a beat.  And while we're on the subject of music...  let's not forget the Darlin family.  I'm still in love with Charleen, (sorry Dud Wash).  And I always wanted to hear that song - Never Hit Your Grandma With A Great Big Stick...  even though that one makes the baby cry.  The Darlins taught us that up in the mountains you don't say Howdy...  you say Huddy!

The character who deserves a paragraph of his own...  Ernest T. Bass.  I'm convinced the T stood for "Totally out of his mind".
I've often told my wife you can surely have fun in Mayberry...  all you have to do is know who to hang out with.
I agree...  when Barney Fife left and the show went color, it really wasn't very good anymore.  But the black and white episodes are classic TV comedy!

I always told myself if i ever tried acting i wanted to be a charactor actor, they always have a job! There are no good charactor actors anymore. The guy that played Ernest T. had a website where he sold t-shirts with a brick on them if i remember right and Jim Lyndsey by Jame Best played alot of other stuff,my dad had a friend that looked and acted just like him.. ju ju ju ju,wy.huh?Ihink James has a website too.. :)

I also have an old Look magazine that has a good article in it of Andy when he owned a farm, there's a big picture of him on a tractor.

If you check the 'Wikipedia' website under the AG Show, there is alot of interesting info and other links that tell about the show. One link has all the characters that had main and secondary roles. It shows their real names which you can click on to find info and histroy on them. Another link has guest and minor roles of persons, some who went on to have big time acting roles, ie Jack Nickelson, etal. Of the main characters, only Andy, Opie, Gomer, and Thelma Lou are still alive. My five DVD's are my go-to relief at times when nothing else is on TV worth watching, which is more and more/alot!!! Ref Danny Bear Claw pt of Jim Lindsey(also played the idoit sheriff in Dukes of Hazard) of his guitar playing. Noticed long time ago that he made that acoustic guitar sound like a Fendar Tele electric or similar axe with no effect pedals or amp. Quess it musta been some unknown prototype that never made the market. Heh-Heh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! None of my acoustics can do that without aid of electric wizardrey and then still don't sound pure electric. Still great show. I remember the 'Look' mag article GunClick referred to about Andy. Recall the picture of Andy on a tractor, was one of the little wide front Fords if I remember right. If they would try to make a modern' do-over of the show today, it would never fly. All the characters would have some social stigma and baggage-wouldn't be worth watching. Thankfull for reruns, dvd's, and internet info. RIP Goober and all who went before!

There was an episode where Jerry Van Dyke, (Dick's brother), played a one man band for a "hoochie-coochie" dancer at a carnival.  Andy speaks to the guy running the show because of complaints from the towns women.  The guy dosen't want to "tone down" the show and decides to move on.  He fires the Jerry Van Dyke character and dosen't pay him.  Andy feels sorry for him and invites him to stay at his house for a while.  Turns out Aunt Bea knew his family and convinces Andy to let him work down at the court house.  Jerry puts on Barney's uniform and goes down to the carnival and starts acting like a deputy.  He ends nabbing a couple of purse snatchers, one of which is played by none other than Lee Van Cleef.
