I would like to deactivate the automatic safety on my Stoeger coach gun. Does anyone have a link to a site that can show me how to do it? Or would a gunsmith be necessary?

HELGA: Where are you going?
HAGAR: To sign a peace treaty with the King of England.
HELGA: Then why take all those weapons?
HAGAR: First we gotta negotiate...

There should be an article on Stoeger's in the November edition of the Cowboy Chronicle.  Basically, remove the butt plate, remove the stock bolt that's under the butt platte.  Pull off the stock.  Put the safety in the "off" position and then move the top lever to the "open" position and watch what happens.  You'll see a 1/8" rod move rearward and push the safety to the "on" position.  Cut the little rod off level with the BACK of the hanger that's hanging down form the top of the receiver.  Then when you work the top lever the rod can't come back far enought to push the safety on.  The safety will still work, you just have to set it manually.

Thanks, that's exactly what I'm looking for. I've got to cast some bullets today and hope I can work this job in between loading the pot.

Ok  Am I a simpleton or just weak? The bolt is so hard to turn I'm afraid of stripping it. Advice?

What bolt?

The flat head screw/ bolt that will separate the stock from the mechanics.

Is the Baikal about the same? I just want it to be a manual safety, not auto.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Baikal is not the same but if you pull the stock off and take a look you will see a little part that needes to be removed.  No cutting, just pull it out.
