Gas Checks and Black Powder

I've got a bunch of 350 grain gas checked flat nose bullets that came with my Browning 86. I was wondering if these will work with BP in my 45-60 loads for my Uberti 1876. They are smokeless lubed, so I will melt out that lube and pan lube with my 50/50 bees wax/crisco lube.
I made up a couple of dummy rounds, so I know they will feed ok.
Should I use a wad (Walter's vegetable fiber) under the gas check, or can I omit this if the gas check would be sufficient?

Not a problem.  I have used gas checked bullets with BP, with no problems.  Don't do it much, because I'm cheap!

First let me say I am no expert, actually a neophyte in this area.

I picked up an original 1886 in 40-82. The barrel is a little rough, but not bad. The previous owner, a pretty good gunsmith, said it was not all that accurate. I loaded up some 260 gr cast bullets with gas checks, lube cookies are 50/50 bees wax and crisco with a hint of MOS, veggie wad and 75 gr of good old Goex 2f. Results off the bench are very promising. (PIc of the target in the Darksiders forum) Case mouths of the fired cases are a bit irregular, to me indicating pitting right at the end of the chamber. Not so bad that they can not be reloaded, but noticeable. Fouling was not bad at all and I had a bit of a lube star on the business end of the barrel. Were my results due to the gas checks or just the whole combo of wad, lube and gas check, not sure but I'm happy with where its going.
