I understand that Major Matt Lewis is in poor health and even in ICU. Could we have some updates. Maybe an address to send cards. Also ask for all of you to send up some prayers for him. Tj

I received this email which has the hospital and room number:

"Hi,

Richard Gimbert (Major Matt Lewis) is in intensive care and soon to be in room 309 recouperating at Olathe Medical Center (Kansas).  He has been a loyal  NCOWS / SASS / GAF / CAS shooter and in recent years an Army officer with his time fairly tied up between family and the army so unable to participate.  I wonder if you would broadcast this note in case his friends would want to know he could use some cheering up.

Thanks,

David Birk
Col. Diamond"

That's a shame.  I wonder what he's taken ill with?

I remember how proud he was to get back into the Military after his civilian times.

If you can see this,

Get well soon, Richard, a.k.a. Major Matt !!

Found the specifecs out on the web, should be correct;

Olathe Medical Center

It's a start. When he gets to his room maybe a family member can jot down the names of callers who wish him well.

Prayers and the best to you and yours Major Matt Lewis!

Major Matt Lewis

I came home from the hospital last Sunday and the wife has forced me to keep a low profile.  I am still not back to "normal" but I am getting stronger everyday.  Still not walking normal, and it does hurt.  I have to think about something before I do it...like "Do I really NEED to go to the bathroom or do I just want to?   "  BUT and this is huge, I am getting stronger daily and my walking is getting better.  My endurance is squat.  I went from working out twice a day and going to Karate to getting whipped by just going to my daughter's concert.  But I tell you what your prayers and thoughts have helped immeasurably.  I DO look forward to seeing you all on the firing line.

On a different note, my Army career has been going pretty well (until this).  I am on the Captain's list awaiting the promotion order and have assumed command of a unit.  It's small, but it's my first command.  I hope this doesn't put me out.

Thank each and every one of you, God Bless and Happy Easter.

Glad you are back, as the early news sounded so glum.  Look after yourself at this point and the military career will follow.

Matt, I have some idea what you are going through having spent 7 weeks in the hospital and rehab, 3 of them in a coma.  It will be 2 years in September and I just quit the Oxycontin cold turkey about 6 weeks ago.  This helped get my head straight.  I don't think I was hooked because I only took 3 or 4 a week but they did affect my thought process.

You being a Marine (your just TDY now) you will fight through this and come out stronger in the end.  Congratulations on being on the Captain's list.  I think about you and pray for you quite often.

Rehab will take a while. The main thing is not to over do it.  Family and Health mean everything. Good Luck on your continued recovery.
