I just bought a small knife with a sheath. i like the knife but the sheath is kind of crude. I need some ideas on making a sheath that hangs around the neck for this knife. I have made bets and holsters but no sheaths as of yet.

Thanks for any help

Heres a fancy one CB made. Leave the beads off and I think the shape is nice if you dont want to do all the work. KT

Hey Mike, here's a very simple one that can be "accessorized" as you like.
The fringe is simply a wide welt and then slit after stitching and the neck strap is 4 member braid. I cut out 55 of these one day and helped my son's scout troop make them the next day at an outing. A little stamping or beading makes it unique to each.....Randy

Some beautiful workmanship guys BUT mrappe, the one you show actually depicts something that would have been more common around an old guys neck back in the day.  Very functional and heavy duty for the day to day activities encountered by a man enduring in the wilderness.

Thanks for the replys. While all of the ones that have been submitted have shown beautiful workmanship they are are more or less leanin toward a bukskin, mountain man or Native American look and I am thinking about making something that would carved and more like the holsters that i carved for my 58 Remeys. They are from Will Ghormley's pattern

Hey Mike, you could take your existing sheath apart, carve it and bring the belt loop up, cut it into a V or M shape for your neck thongs to attach. Stitch the side back into the existing holes.....just thinking.....Randy

That's a cool knife, Majot2. Could you have the makers mark upside down and it's actually mm? I like how the rivets are laid out on the scales.

It looks like the same mark to me. The guy that sold it to me said that the name was Palmer. The initals on it are D.M.P.

DMP is from either David Parker or Darin Parker, can't remember. A knifesmith in US. I've heard he is now deceased but he sold part of the business to an Australian Co. which produces these patined knifes. He called them fire-etched.
Crazy Crow carries them. Very nice for the money, I love the roach belly......Randy

Looks like Dean Oliver's mark to me.  I think I have 4 of his knives at the current time, and his wife Midge makes the sheaths for him. ;D
Ain't like the old days, but it'll do!

If i want to carve and stamp a neck knife scabbard for this knife what would be the thinest that I could use and still use like this. I haxe some 7-8 oz leather that I could use.

If this is the mark on your knife it is Dean Oliver
