To all who want to know how well Adirondack Jack's conversions work in 1873s and 1866's.

My 1866 now shoot 44 russians flawlessly

I ran an entire match of 2f BP loads through her with no hiccups as long as I did my job.

Love that I can reload now for 38 spl and 44 russian and have rifles to match my OT's!

One note to all folks who want to shoot these rifles with the shorter cartridges.

You really need a dowel to shove the cartridges all the way in the tube for it to feed right.

I have been using an extra cartridge and was having minor hiccups.

I will be procurring a decent dowel this week for continued shooting!

I have observed folks using antler tines for the same task, looks proper on the belt as well.

What do you folks load for 44 Russian? I am very interested in this cartridge, as I own a Webley commercial revolver in that (although it's stamped 44 CF Long it's the same cartridge).

Bore diameter 442, chamber diameter 429. Makes me wonder what would exit the cylinder and seal the bore. Looks like it requires a hollowbase bullet.

I have heard of the older 44 russian outside lubed bullet, it was probably either heeled or hollow based.

The bullets I load now are either 200 or 205 grained big lube bullets from Springfield Slim.  They are sized to 429 and I load them with 1.0 cc of The Holiest of Powders - All natural Black Powder!:)
