I was told that it was OK to load 777 in cartridges in a progressive press. Can't see doing it by hand for CAS shooting. Is that the way most Cowboy Shooters load their cartridges?

Off the Hodgdon website -- "When loading cartridges with Pyrodex or Triple Seven, you may use a powder measure designed for smokeless powders."  Everyone I know that shoots seriously uses progressive presses and loads their 777 on those presses.  As you note, for CAS shooting dipping would take to long unless the shooter is a casual shooter and only shoots an occasional CAS match.

Thanks. I have been loading Triple 7 with a Lee progressive for about 5 years, and am now going to a Dillon 650. The customer service rep gave me the "legal recommendation" of only smokeless, and I just had to ask.... As you said, it's almost impossible to shoot frontiersman or the other categories if you load the old fashioned way.  Thanks again.

I have been using 777 in a lee 1000 progressive for years. There is no issue with it at all. It even meters well.

I used a LEE Turret press with auto index and auto-disk powder dump using Triple 7 hopper for years.  Worked great.
