Howdy all,
My brand new (3 months old) New Vaquero cocks and shoots fine. Today, I tried to de-cock it and the hammer sticks to where I have to force it back into place. Again, when I pull the trigger, it does fine. When I try to de-cock it, the hammer sticks.
Please help! thanks!

To get a clear understanding of your issue are you holding the hammer at full cock then depressing the trigger in a normale way. At that point you should be able to lower the hammer while keeping the trigger pulled then releaseing it after it's fully down. Any more details to your issue?

Yes, Kent,
When I completely pull back the hammer and pull the trigger, all works well.

But if I do not want to pull the trigger and simply depress the trigger and ease the hammer back into the uncocked position, the hammer does not want to ease on down. It will stick, stop...and then I have to force it down into the uncocked position.

Assuming the firearm has no cartridges in it:

Roooogers can be difficult in the area of frame alignment.  If the grip frame does not line up well with the cylinder frame, the channel that the hammer runs in can be off-set to the degree that the hammer binds on some part of the frame channel.  You can easily determine this by visually inspecting it.  However, scratches on the sides of the hammer will give further confirmation that there is some interference between the frame (either half, either side) and the hammer.  This, of course, requires disassembly.

Additionally, rough surfaces in the transfer bar channel can retard hammer function.

Broken, or missing, or improperly installed pawl spring and plunger can sometimes cause sluggishness.

Silly me, I would simply explain the problem to Ruger and have them fix it.
