My 97 has developed a new problem, and I am wondering where to start. It is an IAC about 3 years old. As you move the bolt forward there is a screw on the side of it. About the time that screw gets near the top of the flag, the bolt starts dragging until the screw gets clear of the flag. If someone can give me a point to start, maybe I can figure it out.

Needless to say it caused a lot of anguish today.

It's hard to tell from your description just which screw it is that you are talking about, but I have learned that if it's a "new" problem the first place that you start looking is in the last place that you worked on it. Many of the screws that go into your gun or any gun for that matter are very similar except foir the length. It isn't difficult in working with guns to mix up screws. A good example is the frame screw that fits into the front of the 1897 revolver is shorter than the rest of the frame screws, but is exactly the same otherwise. The short screw will work just fine in place of the longer screw, but if you get one of the longer screws in that hole, the cylander wont turn. Is it possible that you put a longer screw in the hole that is designed for a shorter screw?

Bugscuffle,
I think he's talking about a model 97 pump shotgun.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes I know. My mistake was saying 1897 revolver. What I meant to say was 1873 revolver, i.e. SAA. The points that I was making are 1. Look first where you were last. 2. Make sure you have the right screws in the right holes. That screw that I referenced (in the front of the trigger guard frame) was suposed to be an example of how a "wrong screw" can foul up the whole works.
