Two Spencer's came in the shop today 1st. 1860 #59411, 2nd. 1865 #27944 (Burnside). Any info on either of these would be greatly appreciated. They were found in a chicken coop in Texas many years back. Thanks in advance. Van..

1860 - 59411 --->  looks like it was issued to a member of Company G 18th NY Volunteer Cavalry on May 10, 1865.

1865 - 27944 --->  Burnside Spencer; no recorded serial #s - sold to civilian market, maybe went out West; sold overseas; from Marcot book on Burnside Spencers:

Hope this helps,

Fantastic, thank you again, the 1865 came with a  bayonet. Not being a Spencer guy I had never seen a bayonet on a Spencer.

How uncommon are the bayonets?

What are they worth?

Were they offered to the civilian market?

With Burnside guns only?

Where they issued with carbines in military orders?

Sorry.... too many questions.  Van...

Your Burnside Spencer Carbine bayonet would have to be a Spencer or Sharps bayonet; however, even some British socket bayonets will fit the Spencer.  The Spencer carbine was never supplied with a bayonet.
