Several months ago I ordered a Rapine 520375 Spencer mould. At the time Rapine were closing down but honouring existing orders. When it arrived several weeks later I had suspended work on my Spencer projects so I stored it away without inspecting it closely. I finally got it out today to find this:

Clearly not a bullet for a centre-fire Spencer conversion! It looks to me that Rapine have mislabelled a 520357 Maynard mould. The blocks are stamped 520375 and the box is labelled the same. Whatever it is I am now stuck with it as Rapine are out of business and there aren't many Maynard shooters in the UK.

If it is a Maynard bullet mold and you haven't any use for it, you could try putting it up on the N-SSA board and sell it.  There are alot of Maynard shooters in the N-SSA.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a handsome, and well preserved body; but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming...."WOW!... What a ride!"

That is indeed most unfortunate.

If you want to try selling it, there is quite a following for Rapine moulds in the North-South Skirmish Ass'n (N-SSA). They have a Bulletin Board page on their website for Buy & Sell items. You can access it through this link http://www.n-ssa.org/vbforum/index.php , I hope the link works! If not, their home page is http://www.n-ssa.org/ ,then there is a link to their bulletin board from there. The people in the N-SSA shoot a lot of Maynard Carbines so perhaps you could get rid of it through them.

Major & Jobe,

You guys beat me to it.  I was going to make the same suggestion that Perry try N-SSA.  I'm just wondering about postage for it to the USA.

Postage to the USA would be about $15. I don't feel comfortable about joining the N-SSA just to sell something but I would like to see it go to someone who would put it to use so I might give it a try.
An alternative solution might be to get myself a Maynard carbine....

You don't have to join the N-SSA to post on the board you just have to register as a user on the board.  Or if you give me an e-mail address I will post it for you.

I've got a Rapine 520375 single cavity mould that I bought off this forum 'as new'. It casts a bullet one grease groove shorter than my Lyman 515141. Same ogive as the Lyman with a larger meplat. I use them for a light bullet load in my Shiloh 50-70 carbine; sizing them down to .512.
A 56-50 Spencer carbine is high on my list of 'must haves', so I'm prepared ..... ;>)

Swadging them down reduces the grease grooves slightly, so I may have to use a grease cookie. Time will tell .....

I'm in the process of having my Gallagher carbine relined with a .510 liner and I think this bullet will be suitable. This is a mod commonly done by NSSA members.

You ought to be able to find a ready buyer for your mould.

Many thanks to those who offered to buy this mould or help me sell it. It's now on the way to a new owner.
