Shenandoah

After an unanticiapted wait, my Armi Spencer arrived. I have figured out how to prime and found a smokeless load (blasphemy, but 9 grns of Unique is almost a dirty as black powder). It's a little different from the 44 Spencer I had owned, but I like the 56-50 cartridge much better.

But, the handguard was not right. The handguard ring was very loose and the handguard had a gap between the receiver and handguard large enough to insert a business card and slide it around. I contacted Chiappa via email and offered to fit a new handguard if they would ship it. We'll see.

Otherwise, everything else was ok. I need to shoot it much more. Trigger pull was less felt than the one on the 44.

I want to thank Two Flints for his help during my endeavours.

Now we need to get some snow so I can walk around in the woods and shoo it. It's way too warm here in western VA.

Chiappa responded to my email about the handguard. They did not have a spare in stock to send, but they did provide a shipping label and a RA to return the carbine for warranty work.

So far the customer service has been good.

Shenandoah,

Any mention of a return time?  If the handguard/forend is not in stock, then they may sit on your Spencer for a while.  I hope it's not too long.  Who was your contact at Chiappa?  Send me a PM on this, please.
