If the bore is OK that is a very goog price for a original carbine in that condition, even if the bore has to be re-lined it would be worth the money, original sights are still avalible

Hello,

What caliber brass are we discussing?  56-50 or 50-70?

The newest member of SSS stated that he uses 50-90 brass and a Rapine .546 mould when reloading for his original Spencer.  I assume he has to cut it way down to the correct length for his Spencer, but he gave no detailed information.  Any one else using 50-90 brass for their Spencer?

[/quoteI'm currently using the 50/90 brass because 50/70 was out of stock. i recently recieved the 100 rds of 50/70 gvt that i had ordered about a year ago from buffalo arms. I have also been reloading 56/56 brass [25 rds] that i got from them.  I am using the 50/70 and 50/90 brass to save a bit of money since they are cheaper than the 56/56 brass that is already cut down 50/70 govt from Buffalo.

Glad I stopped by Midway when I did, I have some 56-50 on the way, not as much as I would have liked, but what I could afford at the moment and enough to allow me to shoot my gun till more brass becomes available.

Two Flints, thanks for the tip on Dave Taylors website. I was going to jump in and get one of those Spencers, but it looks like I was too slow. Someone already bought 'em. I'll keep looking. These Spencers look like interesting rifles.
