I have a question of clarificartion. What size paper should these be printed on? I assume 8 1/2" by 11" but I tried printing them on 8 1/2" by 11"  and the second target is requesting a different size paper. Since they are all oval targets rather than round I wondered if I goofed sometihng up and they got squished or stretched somehow.

In 1881 Major Blunt recognized that the M_1873 Springfield naturally strung it's shots vertically so he produced an eliptical target. The targets we use are oval to reproduce the M-1881 target. Most of the targets will be printed on 8 1/2" by 11". The B-target  gets printed on 8 1/2" by 14".

Yea, I had M2 on the list, but I am still having computer issues.
The damn thing keeps backing up and I lose part of my messages.

M2 Tripod & T&E would be a tack driver especially at 15 yards or so.  That would cover prone, sitting and kneeling.

If you can shoot it Off Hand you're bad to the bone and should win by default.

How about an M-203?(do they still use those?) That would make a nice, easy to spot hole in the paper.

Mustang Gregg

Yes, the M203 grenada launcher is still in use.

make sure your target is hard enough to set the round off if you want to score high.   Also will help if target is beyond min arm range.  It has been a really long time and I have forgotten the magic distance

I don't know it either, I suppose I heard it in basic training, that's actually the last time I saw or handled one of those. Amazing how long lived some of these weapn systems are. I was in basic in 1976, and they're still using a version of the same rifle, still have the M-203, M-2. Of course, the 1911 is mostly gone, and M-60 I think is replaced, too. What about the L.A.W.?

Old Top

Hi All,

I learned on the M-79 which is the biggest singleshot shotgun I ever saw.  Basicly a M-203 without the M-16 attached.  If memory serves me correctly 33 feet is the arming distance for the round.

Old Top
I only shoot to support my reloading habit.

pony express

I don't think I'd want to shoot at something only 33 feet away with it, unless it was absolutely necessary.

I remember an incident in basic , some clown fornd an unexploded grenade from one of them, decided to throw it. Of course, THEN it went off. Nobody got hurt, but a coupe of tents caught some shrapnel.

The Drill Sergents had us standing at attention for what seemed like hours while they took turns "instructing" us not to do dumb things like that.

Mustang Gregg

I haven't seen a LAW since 1989.
And no M97 chunkers since way before that.  :o
We last used the M60 LMG (in our unit) in 2003...Now we use the M240B/D.
The M2 .50 BMG is still very much in use.  8)

But that's only my findings.
