I will be putting on a couple of buff shoots this year at the Milan rifle club (Il quad cities) on April 14th and Oct. 20th. We will be using
some of the steel buffalo targets from the Ackley range (A BIG THANK YOU to them for loaning them to me). We will be shooting 2
herds of 17 knockdown targets, from 150-300yds. Single shot buffalo rifles with lead bullets only. HEAVY TARGETS-BIG GUNS!!!
$10.00 per shooter with medals to the top 5 finishers.

Is this just a shoot or does it include a primative encampment?

Just a shoot although there will be a sass shoot the next day. Other club members use the different areas and I never
made arrangements for an area to camp. When/if this grows maybe we can camp in in the future

Pards & Pardettes, All,
If you think you'd enjoy knocking down Buff targets, BTB's Shoot is a good place to get started. The range is very nice and easy to get to, post BTB for details, etc.
Last year we had several new Shooters including a feller from Chicago, he ate three bowls of BTB's Buffler Chili and couldn't wipe the smile off his face for all the fun he had!
Get in touch with BTB for details, you'll have fun and some great Buffler Chili to boot!
Best regards and see you on the Firing Line!

Some years ago the club purchased land adjacent to the shooting range. In doing so, an agreement was made that the new property would not be used for fiream ranges. To my knowledge, it has been authorized for primitive camping. The location is behind the concrete block building below the hill (left of the gravel road, near the bottom of the hill). There is a path leading out into the "sticks", with several areas widened for camping, walking, etc. I have looked it over a few times, but have not camped there, yet.

I'd guess room for a dozen or more campsites.

So, theoretically, one could camp there, if desired. Porta-johns are located nearby..and there used to be a water hydrant fairly close...but, I haven't checked that feature recently.

No indoor plumbing or showers, yet....but I hear talk of adding these in the future.
