Where do most of you folks purchase Cimmaron firearms?  Don't see them at my local shops so didn't know where best to look.

You can order through your local shops

or Buffalo Arms and/or Phil Rezac ( I think I spelled it right )

Both of these are good places. Usually if I'm buying new I like to have an action job done on them. So I will get them through one the many gunsmiths that offer package deals. This way I don't have to pay shipping twice, once to get them, then again to and from the smith. I've bought from all three of the smiths listed bellow with great results. If you order from Cody the Uberti will come from Taylors unless you specific Cimmaron. Good Luck :)

I just go into an FFL who I buy alot of guns from and he orders the weapon I want.  I find that an FFL you have an established relationship with will have the best price.

Yep, just get your FFL person to order direct from Cimarron, Taylors, Navy Arms,,whomever has what you want. I am fortunate to have a shop near me that orders for me at a very decent charge. Taylors can have action work done for you,,not sure about the others.

I hear good things about Longhunter,,although I've never ordered from him myself.

I bought a Taylors/Uberti/Codymatic Trappers Model pistol gripped Model ,73 (which I LOVE just as it is).

Then afterward, I decided to join NCOWS and hoped to use my Codymatic to cut down on expenses ... but was told that the Codymatic, with its aluminum carriers and short shift kit, was neither allowed nor welcome in NCOWS ... fair enough; cause I was joining NCOWS to get away from what I concieved as the competitiveness of SASS.

But the moral of this long rambling post is to make sure of your intentions before ordering the weapon .... I am sure that Monsieur Cody could have made a nice NCOWS legal gun if I had only known to ask ....

I buy most of my guns from Bud's that is local for me. They carry Cimmaron as well as many others. They are close if not the top online seller nation wide also.

What is the real question being asked?

Where is the best place to buy?  The place that offers the best service, advice, warranty.  The place that offers reasonable prices, that supports fellow cowboys and cowgirls, and is a local businessman in the community.

Where is the cheapest place to buy is a different question.  Places like Buds sell cheap ... and could care less about all the above.  When is the last time you saw them advertise in the Chronicle?  When is the last time they gave advice and support for your problems or concerns on this forum?  Be careful, cause cheapest is not always best.

I would certainly be willing to pay a few bucks more to support those who support CAS.  In the long run it is a better investment.  And when you add transfer fees and such, you really get a competitive deal from your locals.

Yep, I do have a horse in this race cause I am a dealer.  I have seen lots of disappointed customers from Buds and other discount outfits who pull off some slight of hand tricks that are quite "shady".  Had a guy today who bought on line from a discounter and I did the transfer.  The paperwork said that the discounter sold the gun TO ME.  I then become the reseller and MUST LEGALLY COLLECT STATE SALES TAX AND charge my transfer fee, which works out to be MORE than if the customer bought from me in the first place.  I can not afford to risk my resale license  to suppoirt an on line competitor "slicky boy".

In the end it is your hard earned money to spend as you wish.  Spend wisely.

Hi,

I seem to have put a burr under someone's saddle when none was intended ...

My intention was to advise that before buying, decide what the gun was intended for and have it built for specifically  that idea .... NCOWS had not entered into my focus or I might have bought an entirely different gun ... and it was my own fault for not being specific enough about what I wanted ... for I am sure that Cody Conagher could have made me a quite nice NCOWS legal gun ....

Thanks for all the good advice pards.  Lots of wisdom too.

Marshal Joseph I agree about supporting folks that support the sport as well.  I could not find any info on your dealership, please feel free to post or PM me.

Several of the local dealers are not friendly with people doing transfers and have flat out told me they wouldn't do them.  I can understand it in some situations but not so on others.  If I buy from Longhunter and he slicks my action on a new Uberti, isn't the same as ordering a new stock Glock that I saved $25 on by purchasing on line.

Sam Cobra

Hey Marshall Joseph,  Thanks for the info and I have PM'ed you back.
