While I think the wood fore end is kinda keen, it does slide around and does not give solid purchase when shooting.  I was very tempted to slop a bit of clear silicone behind the little piece of wood to act as a removable "glue" but decided I prefer the Henry Pattern Barrel.

The loading gate is a correct copy of the original Kings Patent loading gate and was true "gate" rather than a "ladle."  There is the possibility, if your forget to close your gate, after the first round goes off and you start to cycle the lever, the rest of the cartridges "exit" out the open gate (don't ask how I found out) and is quite hilarious to watch at a match.

Well, pard - I think ya better get one soon: the handwriting's on the wall.  They ARE interesting and from purely a money standpoint, they could become collectible. but probably not in our lifetime; maybe the kid's.

I know. I just dont have the money for one right now. Im a musician and i have other things that right now are 'more important'. They'll probably be out of production by the time i get to save up for one. I may just have to buy a regular Henry and have it converted by The Smith Shop.

This is my Transition Modle Henry, I built it useing a 66 loading gate. It had to be hand fitted to the frame as the Henry is narrower than the 66.

Mike,

Really nice rifle.  I'd suggest you remove the "thumb button" for full benefit, but first order a new follower from VTI so you
can have the thumb button if want drives.  Without the thumb button there is no "Henry Hop."

PS:  Hope your not using an OEM ladle.  The little tab cartridge stop on the back is going to break.

I'm in the process of building a transition Henry (at this point "trying" is a more apt term).  I'm using an original style flip out gate and installing a wood forearm.  Had a 22" Navy Arms Uberti made Henry in the safe for longer than I would like to remember.  Brand new so I decided to set it up for competition.  Uberti has sure changed the Henry over the years as this one is a nightmare.  First, after test fitting some new links it turns out the old ones used smaller link pins on the bolt.  The Italians must have figured if they were different sizes, you can't put the links in backwards.  At any rate had to knock out the old pin, enlarge the hole and install a new larger front link pin.  Then the firing pin was very difficult to remove from the bolt.  The firing pin hole was drilled crooked and binding the pin.  Figured I'd just put in a new bolt.  Wrong, the firing pin extension hole in the old bolt and the firing pin extension are way larger than on newer Ubertis.  New parts just flop around loose in the frame.  No replacement parts for a Henry this old, have to make do with what is in the gun or make a stepped firing pin extension.  My afternoon tuneup is now turning into a multi-day rebuild.

Hey Pettifogger!!

Are you using the Kings Patent Gate from Uberti??  I really understand the "fun" your having with an "Old Build" Uberti.  Been there, Done that, got the T Shirt.  Playing with these guns is still major fun when your doing something a mite unusual.

Yep.   When they first came out four or five years ago I called VTI and they had one.  Been sitting in the parts drawer since then.

All Right!!!  However, should you happen to forget and leave that swell little gate open,  when the buzzer goes off and you fire the first round ........... when you load the second, the rest of the magazine comes trooping out of the gate and make a nice pile of unfired rounds at your feet.

Don't ask how I know that ;D ;D ;D

Pettifogger

Good, then that means if I have to unload it I don't have to cycle the rounds through the gun. :D

Mike

I have used my one now for a few months and it works well, the only thing you must do is make sure the last round loaded has been fed into the mag and then let it back into the carrier. Then it work real well.

I ground the henry follower of with just a bit proud so I can load the last round into the mag.

I also had to take a bit of the bottom of the bolt so the loading gate worked.
