A rancher wanted me to make a holster for his 22 revolver, and he kept going to my 51 Navy holsters. They fit his gun just about perfect, but he wanted it to have a strap, and to be able to come apart.
So, I built this. One side of the loop is riveted, while the other side has snaps so he can take it apart to put on his belt easily.

Hopefully he will come pick it up soon, as it is tempting me to use it for hunting season which is coming up. ;)

The belt is my new money belt for me.

I like it Dalton, both the holster and the belt.  Great work!  What weight leather did you use for the money belt?  Anything special that you did to it?

Thanks KT.

LJ, I think the money belt is about 5-6 oz. It is currently being antiqued, so I have roughed it up some, twisted it, wrinkled it, scratched it, etc. It even has some good old silver dollars in while it is being antiqued, to give it some different wear patterns.
When I get it done, I will post it.

Beautiful Dalton!  I like you idea on the loop with a snap on one side.  Could you post some photos of it for us?  I'm kind of visualizing hou you did it in my head and am thinking I might want to try this on a western style holster I'm getting ready to make for a more modern firearm.  It makes sense to do it that way to be able to "un-do" the loop but still keep the outwsard appearancs of a more traditional style loop holster.  Your friend ought to be tickled to death with what you've made for him.   :)

Dalton  very nice belt and ho;ster. I really like the buckle on the belt.

MY, That is nice! That color is what I shoot for. SWEET !  ;)

That is just olive oil over Russet Wicket and Craig leather. So easy, even I can do it....

Nice work Dalton. So the leather for the belt is veg tan Wickett & Craig in Russet? I've seen some lmoney belts lately where the maker is using a pebble texture upholstery leather in a 4 to maybe 5 once weight. I guess I've not paid attention (As my wife says) to what's going on, but I don't recall using veg tan for money belts.

Super job on the holster too, JD

Hi Jd.
The holster is W&C Russet with oil. The money belt is veg tan Tandy stuff I had in about a 4 oz or so, with oil and some antiquing done. It will get more wear, then I will show it off more.
