Custer survivor,The End of a Myth, the Beginning of a Legend
Interview with Author John Koster
In 2010 his book Custer Survivor: The End of a Myth, the Beginning of a Legend  certainly stirred up a hornet's nest among Little Bighorn scholars and George Armstrong Custer history buffs. A second edition was released before the year was out, but Koster wasn't backing away from his central claim—namely that one 7th Cavalry trooper, C Company 2nd Sgt. Frank Finkel, escaped the massacre of Custer's immediate command on June 25, 1876, and lived until 1930.

Thanks for posting this, I saw the show on National Geographic or the History Channel, what a week ago. I was very interested in it, I used to do some reenacting and was part of L Troop then moved to C Troop as First Sergeant. C Troop was in the Dayton area of Washington, now I know why they asked to be C troop. Guessing it was common knowledge in that area, although this was the first I had ever heard of it. Need to find the book.

Quote...Rain-in-the-Face said there was definitely a survivor and that he saw the man in Chicago, a city Finkel is known to have visited...

How in the hell would Rain in the Face remember ONE face from the midst of a pitched battle approx. 20 yrs. later?  ::)

That's like the warrior (who's name escapes me now) who claimed that he killed Custer.  Custer was bearded when he arrived at LBH plus, the Indians didn't know who Custer was or what he looked like, and especially with a beard.

One of several who made the claim much later.  Only a stray Southern Cheyenne and one or two of the Lakota ever met Custer up close when not at the BLH.

Hey Fox Creek.

I can damn sure remember the face of a guy that shot at me in VietNam over 40 years ago. :P
Make sure to shoot low every few rounds just in case they're crawling.
