Buscadero Rig - Finally

For months (or at least weeks), I have been saying that my daughter and I have been working on a Buscadero rig for her to use when western action shooting.  We collaborated.  It is my third leather project, the earlier projects having been a holster for my 1849 pocket pistol and my second a sheath for my screw knife.  It is her first, other than a couple of leather bracelets.  On this project, Sterling Sage did the tooling; I did most everything else.  We used a Will Ghormley pattern and modified it to fit, made it so she could wear the buckle in back, added a welt to the holsters, eliminated cartridge loops and did no stitching around the belt or slots.  She is very happy with the result and used it in a match for the first time two weeks ago.  I am finally posting some pics.  For some additional observations about the project and additional photos, see the leather page on our website, www.tarryhollowgang.com.  We welcome constructive criticism.  We are trying to learn.

Thanks for the nice comments, folks.  The color is the result of 5-6 coats of Neat's Foot Oil (what Sterling Sage wanted to do), followed by BagKote.  Used gumtrag also on the interior.  Now working on a Slim Jim for my Walker and a money belt to hang it from.  Pattern for Walker will be my own.  Pattern for belt will be from Will Ghormley's Jesse James package.  Know that may not be historically correct match of belt and holster, but my goal now is to get different kinds of experience.  Have made both a Ranger and a tapered gun belt.  Want to give the money belt a try.  Likely I'll be back with questions before this next project is complete.

Long Juan. Thats a wonderful work of art pard, love the color  :)
I cant wait to see the Walker rig. For the money belt, I folded one of my belts without
weting it and it cracked in the fold  :-[ I will NOT make that misstake again.

Long Juan  The rig looks great and I'm sure it was extra special for you to have been able to work on it with your daughter.

Howdy Juan,

Very nice work! You daughter will be proud to wear this Rig. Thank you for sharing it with us.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself
