Yep, I know that was fun.  I have a Marlin 95 Cowboy that loves DD's 400 grain Big Lube and 65 grains of BP.  Makes a great Cody Dixon rifle.  I shot a clean match with it last Saturday.

I have the earlier Browning version of the '86  SRC.  Much too shiny, but an excellent .45 lever gun.  I have the Gould bullet which would be my choice for hunting.  For a solid cast bullet the Lyman 457193 is my go-to bullet for .45-70s.  It is an older mould and seems to carry enough lube, and it is very accurate.  I've never tried DD's bullet but it should be just right for your new '86.

 I recently acquired an 86 EL, but it's not very light.  Advertised at 7.25#, it weighs in at 8.1#. I know one must make allowances for wood density, but .85# makes for a lot of allowing.
