Cleaning up leather tools

I just purchased some used leather working tools and would like to know how to or if they need cleaning.
The stamping tools are clean on the 'face' but the shafts are slightly corroded.
The swivel tools have 3/8" blades that are rusty, the knurled handles are oxidized and the set screws are rusty. How sharp should the blades be? Sharp enough to shave with etc.?
The stamps are Craftool brand and I think the swivels are a Tandy product. I think some of the stamps are older because they only have numbers on them and the others start with a Letter followed by a number. Any idea how I could figure out the value of the tools, just wondering if I saved some money buying used equipment.

Go onto ebay and search for vintage leather stamps....you can get an idea what they are going for...according to my information ....you are correct the Craftool  stamps without the letters were made prior to 1966 and were done by hand...when they started mass producing they added a letter suffix.

Outrider,
Thank you for the reply. I did not know that the early stamps were handmade.
