Gold Dot Ammo Question?

My brother totes a 380 for self defense.  He can't seem to load Gold Dot jhps in the magazines for his gun.  He says they seem a little too long.  He gets 2 rounds into the mag and can't get the third one in.  He then has to fight with the magazine to get the 2 he's loaded out of the magazine.  Are God Dots a little longer than other 380 factory rounds?  So far he's only fired American Eagle fmjs in the gun and he says these load and shoot just fine.

Being a big bore sixgun man myself, I don't know anything about the specs on 380 factory ammo.   ???  Any help would be appreciated.

Now I have never shot a 380 but do shoot Gold Dot JHP ammo in my 9mm and 45 ACP and they are shorter than standard FMJ ammo. I suggest he get a mag ulul and try with that. Oh and that is my favorite SD ammo regardless as they make a short barrel version in +P 124 gr in 9mm and the 200 gr +P in 45 ACP. Never tried it in my 45 Colt though. Most HP ammo is shorter than stand ball ammo as a rule. Some guns however won't fire JHP or are picky about which one. Ask him if he got 9mm instead of 380 too as that is longer.

It is 380 ammo for sure.  I bought it for him and sent it to him because where he lives hp ammo is agin the law, ( the peoples republic of New Jersey).  I told him if he's gonna carry a puny little 380 he should at least stoke it with quality hollow point ammo which might actually drop a perp and not just piss him off.  I also sent him some CorBon jhps and some other brand...  I don't remember which.  He's planning to move to Florida where good defensive ammo is perfectly legal.  I advised him that if the CorBon and the other brand work ok  he should give the Gold Dots to some other 380 owner.

To be honest with you I've never had an ammo in a given caliber not load in a magazine before but have had gun reject loading them in the pipe after they came out of the magazine. Oh and the is the Uplulu sorry about the name. Oh and some 380 can be loaded with the 9mm to 45 acp version and others require the 22 - 380 version. They sure make it easy to load up a magazine of ammo quickly too.
