Looking for load data for a 180 gr RNFP 45 S&W Schofield bullet. In all the books that I've been looking at has data for 200 gr bullets and none for the 180 gr. I was told by the factory to use a 180 gr bullet in my Spencer. It would feed better. I am planing on using the Spencer at the GAF Grand Muster the end of October.
Thanks

Go to Hodgdon's web site. It will tell you everything you need to know.

See you at the muster.

That was the first place I went to. The only 180gr bullet that they list is for a 45 LC. I was at the factory last Thursday and forgot to ask them about the load data. I'll call them on Tuesday.

Talked to Chris at Hodgdon's and he said a safe starting load with Trail Boss would be 4.5gr.

Loaded a box of fifty and out to the range i went. At 35 - 45 yards only missed 5 rounds out of the 50. Not to bad.

4.5 grains of Trail Boss sounds like a good starting point for a 180 grain bullet. I shoot .45 S & W Schofield rounds in my Pistols  with 200 grain bullets and use 4.0 grains of Trail Boss. I use Starline Brass.

I've also called Hodgons in the past for information about bullets not listed and they were very helpful.
