Hello the Camp,
Can anyone here reccomend a good book re: Birge's sharpshooters in the Carolinas' campaign generally, and Bentonville in Particular?

While I haven't gotten around to reading this yet I think it might have some of the info you want.  "Last Stand in the Carolinas: The Batle of Bentonville" by Mark L. Bradley.  I bought my copy at Bentonville in 2010 while I was out there but between work, other books and research I haven't gotten to this one yet.  It is a 575 page book.  Hope this may help.

Sounds like a good one- ordered it today.  Thanks

Just finished Bradley's book- quite a read, although not much as to Birge's sharpshooters.  Quite a bit about the 64th Ill, and their overrunning Johnston's HQ before being pushed back.  I would doubt that a rifled- musket outfit could have done so.  I am not an expert, however, and would welcome any comments
