Thanks very much to my pard Litl Rooster, who sent me a "care package" of some 44 Russian cases, so I could get started shooting my new O/T!

Thanks, pard!!  And I also give thanks to Dave (Jed Cooper), who loaned me some 44 Cal. BigLube (tm) Boolits so that I could load those cases and shoot at our Scarlet Mask Vigilance Society monthly shoot!  (Where the pic was taken)

I have some awesome friends and I am very blessed!

Thats what friends are for. I follow the golden rule and it is nice to have some joy come back occasionally. Never as much in as goes out, but thats ok. Nice revolver, happy noise and smoke making!
All my cowboy gun's calibres start with a 4! It's gotta be big bore and whomp some!

Thanks, 4 Fingers.   Very true.  I had the honour of meeting Litl Rooster and his lovely bride, Montana Darlin' at their former home on the ranch (oh wait - West of the Mississippi River is a Ranch; East of the Mississippi R. is a Farm) he managed in Virginia when another friend, Silver Creek Slim and I went to Va. to attend the internment of an NCOWS friend, Miss Annie Lee in Arlington National Cemetery.  Ralph & Shawna opened their home to us and another great pard, Trinity because the February weather promised plenty of cold nights ... and we were camping.  They didn't know me at all and only knew Slim & Trinity from here on CAS City.

They couldn't have been more generous!  I will always remember that "expedition" very fondly, despite the sad reason for being there.

I'd also thank Dave "Jed Cooper" Hollandsworth for helping me fill those cases with lead.  Hey - I actually had the Black Powder and primers!

Now all you need is an 1860 Henry in 44 Russian to go with it... or an 1866 Winchester.      ;D

The 44Ruskie shooting black would be close in ballistics to the 44Rimfire I suppose. Very suitable.

4 Fingers and Cal,

I DO wish I had a Henry; but for now I'll have to suffer through life  ::) with an 1866 Improved Henry.  ;)

Actually, I like the newer technology that allows us to have a rifle in 45 Colt, which is what ALL my other Olde West guns are chambered in.   I know that it - in a period rifle - isn't authentic, but I like the extra ooompfh in case I should want to go try my luck (again) hunting Bambi.  At least, 45 Colt ... and 44 Russian, too ... are period correct.  My O/T is actually chambered in 44 Spl. but I deliberately chose it so I could shoot 44 Russ. in it.  And it was a pleasant surprise to find that the original O/Ts were offered in 44 Russian, but I also like the idea that I CAN shoot the more powerful 44 Spl. if I desire more "horsepower."  Steel doesn't much care what hits it, but ...   ALL of my weapons serve double duty; play and defense - and in this case, using a BP round for defense is pretty far down the list, but it IS there and I know I can count on it if the scheiss ever hits the fan, so to speak!
