Great story!! Searching 25 years and finding the Henry rifle in the wilderness.
But why were the sideplates missing?

No,...Not that I know of,.....

There was a story round about, that most of them dissapeared in the early '90 over the course of a couple weeks,.....it was found out by the higher ups and the word was put out that EVERYONE,....the WHOLE building would be fired if they did not show back up over the weekend,........They come back, all of them,......

No Sir,....The only reason I know about them is because I worked for UPRR fr 10 years,....my father for 30 years,....and my Grandfather for just short of 30 years also.........

Back before the days when they bought out the MOP and then let the MOP take over, they used to have them on display at the museum at the HQ in Omaha. After the MOP took over everything went to pot.
  Hope that picture isn't supposed to be a representation of Hillsdale, there just wasn't and still isn't much for trees anywhere near the tracks.. ???

The article was written for a California based gun magazine, so it stands to reason that the photo was taken at either Disney Land or Knotts Berry Farm.

Some time back, I remember seeing a photograph of one of those "Railroad Baron" pullman cars.  Over the flashy table there were two '66s, displayed on the bulkhead in an "X" pattern with some other really neat stuff.  Always wondered what happened to those rifles ..............

In George Madis's Winchester Handbook, there is a Pic of a engraved model 1866 with UPRR on it. It is highly engraved and was presented to someone of importance. When I get home I'll try to remember to look it up. As far as a large number of them being engraved thusly, I havent heard anything of the sort. It is quite possible several guns were stamped or marked with company markings.

Here the pics of the 66 I referred to in my last post on page 14 of George's Winchester Handbook. This is the only reference I've seen or read about original Henrys/66s having UPRR markings.

The UPRR Henry picture was taken at Knotts Berry Farm in Los Angeles during late 1980.  I'm on the right, Rick Hacker is on the left.  The train wasnt moving but the wind was blowing straight down the tracks making it appear the engine is moving forward.. Lucky us !!!   I was a member of Phil Spangenberger's (from G&A Magazine) C-Troop, and we performed 1880's US Cavalry events @ the Great Western Gun Show in East LA during the 70s.  GREAT fun.  I'm the proud owner of UPRR Commemorative Rifle #70 ...  Currently live in Sierra Vista Arizona ..

Hi Lonesome Henry ,yes that's the one looks like a date of 1867  on that sundial. Is this carbine a U .P R.R  one.

Sorry Judge, i don't know. It is one of the Henrys, that Yellowstone Kelly once owned.
S/n 6850 mfg 1864 - 19-3/16" carbine barrel.
