Just a reminder that the NCC2011 is this month at Old Ft. Reno, OK (about 35 miles west of Oklahoma City).  For details go to the U.S. Cavalry Association Website, http://www.uscavalry.org/  Click on "Events", "Current Events."

This is not "re-enactment" but rather an equine competition based upon the military horsemanship skills developed over the centuries up to the present day.  I don't know about participation levels, yet.  Last year we had almost 75 participants including riders from Australia and Great Britain.

The four main events are Military Equitation, Military Field Jumping, Mounted Pistol, and Mounted Saber.  In addition a new event, Combat Equitation, has been added for this year.  Additional events include the Major Howze Mobility Test, Bugler Competitions, and the Bolte Cup.  There are several very good "water calls" planned, also.   8)

If you are in the area, come on down.  If you like what you see, bring your horse next year!!!   ;D
