Salutations Compadres.

I'm getting ready to order a Marble's tang sight from Buffalo, but just wanted to check first that I'm ordering the right thing?

Neither Marble's or Buffalo say if their screw set fits the Uberti, but according the Marble's the correct screw set for the original Winnies is 995019 which is a 10-36x.355 and a 12-28x1.9. Cant imagine Uberti using the original inches measurements, but if they have, good on them.

The tang sight itself is also listed as for originals.

What say ye, Lads?

wyldwylliam, I have a Uberti 1876 rifle. When I first got it I ordered the Marble's sight that was recommended for it. That sight had the base of the post toward the rear of the sight base. When I tried to shoot it the base of the post forced my thumb to the rear of the grip which caused me to shoot with my hand in an unnatural position. I tried the Marble's sight off my Uberti 1873 and it worked much better. With the post upright there is plenty of clearance for the bolt all the way to the rear. This sight also allows the hand to grip the rifle with a normal grip. The only thing I had to do was get a taller post. I can't remember the Marble's number since it is on the bottom of the base and I don't want to mess up my sight alignment. I hope this information is of use to you.

Thanks a lot, Jubal.

Do you know if that is the correct screw set referenced in my original post?

Howdy,

I have a Chappy, but I think the same screw set will work for you.  Midwayusa.com part# 228273. Marble screw set #19.

The base I used is Midwayusa part # 995425.

I use the Mid Range Upright Midwayusa's part # 921861.  This upright with my front sight will shoot 10" high at it's lowest setting at 100 yds.  Since I am looking to shoot to 500 yds, I can live with it.  The next shorter upright doesn't have enough elevation for me.

If you do not want to order from Midwayusa, you can look up the parts there then go to Marble's sight to get their part number.

I now have my Ulberti 1876 at long last, which of the ladder sights would you reccomend to replace the existing factory fitted one, seem to remember a Smiths one mentioned, and some on the NWMP rifle, or is the tang ones the way to go, this will be mainly used for hunting etc, leverman. ::)
