First Holster and 2nd belt pics

I thought I would share a picture of my very first holster that I made and the gun belt to go with it.  I made these for my son who is nine years old and is shooting SASS.  His alias is No Good Nate.  I am almost done with the 2nd holster and I learned alot from making the first.  This holster is a fully lined cross draw.  The bullet loops on the belt are two different sizes because he shoots a .38 pistol and a .44 rifle.  My edge work could use some improvement but I think the 2nd holster will be better.  Please critique it (good or bad).  My 12 year old daughter shot her first match last weekend and has already asked for her own rig with a lot of "bling".  She picked out "ox blood" for the color.

Cyrus, taking on a lined holster for a first is amazing.  From what I can tell looking at the pictures, you did a great job.  My first suggestion would be to post larger pictures, it is really hard to see the detail.

Again, job well done, your son should be proud to wear that rig.

Cyrus, same comment about pic size.  You know those old eyes, but they look GREAT what I can see.  Will I see you and No Good Nat tomorrow?  Hope we can posse up, if so.  I have been working on leather for our grandson and our daughter.  Grandson Hunter (Wasabe SASS #90128) will shoot tomorrow with the Texicans.  His Mom (Sterling Sage) is in Colorado for a long weekend, enjoying some cooler weather with her Mother/my wife.  Makes me wonder why Hunter and I are still in Texas.  Guess it's because we both had to work today.     Hope to see you tomorrow.

looks to be and excellent first holster.  I like to include several things from the Long Hunter holsters in my compitition holsters.  First is the little tab of leather that is placed to keep the holster tight on the belt.  the second is the wide paddle behind the belt agian for stability and lastly the tie down strap that will pull out is you forget to remove it and draw it on the clock just a shake and you are ready to fire.  And if it will be used for both colts , new model Rugers and old model ruger( IE small and large frame guns) I will add a screw at the top of the welt to tighten or loose to provide the correct tensinon on the gun so it doesn't pop out will moving on the line.  Several Championships have been lost because of a gun that kept traveling when the shooter stopped.

Thank for all the great comments.  FYI...I made the pics a little bigger.  They are still a little small, but I did not want to have to take new pics and if I made them too much bigger they became blurry.  I used the Will Ghormley Law Dog pattern as a starting point and modified the top of the bucket some so that the gun sits out a little more.  I did not use the pattern for the stamping.  I just figured that out myself.
