Baket Weave Pattern

Can anyone tell me when the basket weave pattern came into vogue? I'd like to make my Wild Bunch rig in that pattern but I want to stay authentic to the period.

I've seen stuff that was supposedly made prior to 1900 that has basket weave on it.

Since the Wiold Bunch is supposed to ba around circa 1915/16 any design up to that point would work.

As Cliff pointed out...there are basket weave designs on circa 1900 holsters...
