Is a Uberti Hombre a good gun? I found where I can get one for 250. I plan on getting into CAS and wondered if this is a good gun to start or should I go with a pistolero or model p or something else. Thanks

short answer is yes it's a good start..

It is a Uberti Cattleman with out the polish (others are doing the same thing)

I think I know were your looking @ $250
I have friend that bought  two in 38 @ the same price.
No particullar luck of the draw, his worked fine and have decent actions.

They are fine as is, for getting started, at SASS level ..NCOWs does not recognize the finish but it can be buffed.

For a new Guy looking at SASS on a Budget buying a pair at $500 is a good start.

I know of two other Honbre's that are use by a mounted shooter.
He has shot live Matches as well since 2001. He bought them for Cabela's for $199 in 2001
I beleive he installed Wolf springs at some point ..otherwise bone stock...

Will it be alot harder to shoot having the shorter barrel Vs the 5.5 inch barrel?

Naugh...just step 3/4" of a inch closer to your targets  ;D

You'll find it balances quite nicely, and I noticed the Sight groove wider than the standard Cattleman, more like the Evel Roy or Smoke Wagon's groove.  Sight Picture was good.
