Hey Sir Charles

My sources tell me that Victoria is doing 'Wild Bunch'. I'm trying to promote that up country. Mind sharing some stages or procedures?
I've read on the net that some US clubs are disregarding the SASS restriction and allowing other period handguns. It's attracting new shooters bored with the same old up-close-and-dirty CAS stages ad nauseaum.

I put together a period military outfit to include puttees to the knees. Need a campaign hat, but in the meantime, my "Pike" western hat will suffice. Gonna wear it tonight and our weekly practice.

From the VFGPA June Newsletter;

Nimrod - An Introduction to Cowboy Action Shooting was held April 30. Sixty-four new shooters, including 15 juniors,
experienced shooting six guns, lever rifles and shotguns. For most it was their first visit to VFGPA and their first
shooting experience. The weather cooperated and a dozen plan to attend future Frontier Shootists' events. A big thank
you to all the volunteers who worked so hard to make this event a success. More about it on the next page with
pictures.
The Frontier Shootists held their annual Buffalo Shoot May 1st with a close to capacity turn out. More about it on the
next page with pictures.
Frontier Shootists are holding a new type of shooting competition Saturday July 9th. The Wild Bunch event is based on
the movie of the same name. We wear cowboy clothes or early 20th century military uniforms and use 1911 pistols,
Winchester '97 or model 12 shotguns and a pistol calibre lever action rifle in a 3 gun event.

I just spoke to Al Wilson.  They must have lost my email address!

There will be three classes, the two SASS classes plus OUTLAW for those who are not equiped, or who choose to play with different toys.  Shooters meeting is at 8;30 am this saturday at the VFGPA range on the Malahat.

I'm gonna give it awhirl! :-\ :-\

I attended my very first Wild Bunch match today.  I haven't fired those particular firearms for several years, but the did their part.  Not bad for three original 96 to 125 year old guns. (1873;-1886, '97;-1909, 1911;- 1917) I'll post photos and results soon.

The big giggle is that as we share the range with some IPSC shooters, they were also invited and about a half dozen showed up.  They shot in the "Outlaw" category, complete with cargo-pocket shorts, fancy polo shirts, sneakers, and baseball caps.  What the Hey, we might get some new western action shooters out of it.  The surprising thing is that their 1911's had a lot of stoppages.  If it wasn't for that they might have cleaned the match!

I heard that the Courtney bunch had something else that kept their members busy at their home range.  Plan on at least one WB match a year, and maybe more depending on demand.
