I have about 10 pieces to do. I don't really want to buy a 500 dollar splitter for just doing a few strips
PM's?

I know sir it's just that I would have to order 5 different colors.

Deadeye,

Pre-dyed strips almost never work out well. They usually have no color or poor color on the edges.  Plus you are going to want to roll and burnish the edges anyway for easier bullet insertion, altering whatever color you received even more.

If you do order it pre-dyed, make sure it has been drum dyed so you get color all the way thru it.

Probably the easiest way though do do this is to get some very wide, un-dyed cut 4/5 ounce strips (6 inches or so maybe). Since they will already have a straight edge to them it will be a 10 second job with a strap cutter to make strips any width you want.  Then dye the strips the chosen color yourself.

Zack White Leather will sell strips in any width and weight you want.  They do sell drum dyed strips as well, but not in the weight you want.

Looks like I'm just going to have to order a whole hide in 4/5 oz then.
Can 4/5 oz also be used for backing on gun belts?

Duke if you order a 1/2 hide from wicket and Cragg they will cut it in 1/2 so you have 2 quarters and have  one piece made to 4-5 oz and the other piece to 7-8 oz. 8-10 or whatever else u want. They will do that for you also.  KT
