I've been making a few,...and They're kinda a pain to make.....but I know I don't charge enough for em.

What would you guys think would be a fair price??? This is just an example of a plain one,...some are much fancier....

Thanks,.....i've sold a few for like 20 bucks,.......figured that was kinda low.

I made myself some at first ,..just to cover up some old ugly stocks,....but then others saw them and liked them.

Mogorilla

I find it difficult to price items as well.  I usually take cost of the supplies (% of leather used and I include the cost of a thing of linen thread, and an extra buck or two for dye, etc.).   If no tooling I factor in 15 to 20% over that cost.    If it has tooling, I will add another 10%.

I make enough to recoup my costs, off the top, 10% goes to a Native American school in the Dakotas.  (I do a lot of fringed things for friends and in the days of Cowboys and Indians, the very thing that got me into this, I was always an Indian, so I want to give back).  Any extra I pool up and take my wife to dinner or something nice. I am a hobbiest though, just sell enough to make myself some extra stuff.

That Stock cover looks great.  Great work.

Unlike some I usually base prices on an hourly or sometimes a flat rate.  If you can't do $25.00 per hour your not making any money....don't under estimate yourselves... if a customer wants a custom project done..charge for it..in most cases they can't get the custom stuff done by any of the top companies

That is a Very Nice looking stock sleeve!! :o (How's that for PG rateing ;D)

I have trouble charging by the hour because it takes me a long time to make things...That being said, I charge $75 for my Buttstock Cartridge Holders...+$12 if you want it black. (I can easily get more than 3 hours into one).... I have a backlog of around 70 days and cannot make them fast enough. I try to make one a day, but I burn out on making them and often only get 1 or 2 a week finished.

Good design, Farmer. Your work is good, too. $20 is under priced. Like Outrider said, 60+

I have a feller that wants me to make him one. So many projects and soooo little time!!  ;)
Thanks for posting nice pictures. I will glean some ideas from them.  ;D

Wow. I have been working on one for myself, but havent made one to sell yet. I was figuring about 30-35 for a similar cover.
THanks for the insight!
