If you are shooting your hand gun and you have one that does not fire, is that counted as a miss or procedure???

That's a question for our Judge.

At our monthly matches, it is counted as a malfunction and the shooter can either take the misses or elect to shoot the stage over.

Our Judge will give you the official answer.

One caution, if the gun will not fire, do not holster it hand it off to the RO. Tj

I'm hardly a judge, but my "call" is this is simply a miss.

If a shooter has a "squib", they should cease fire with that firearm (and be instructed to do so by the R.O. Timer and/or posse, ASAP), then all unfired rounds from that firearm counted as misses. The firearm should be handed off and taken to the unloading table. The shooter should continue the scenario with the next appropriate fiream.

At a monthy posse match you may get a reshoot for a firearm malfunction, but only at the discretion of the match director / posse leader.

At a Regional, or National Match, there is usually a "no-alibi" rule....you'll not get a reshoot unless the R.O. stops you without cause (line blown safe or they have mistakenly given you incorrect/confusing instruction under time), or a target/prop malfunction occurs....things to this effect.

Specific rules are usually printed in the major match booklets.

Its wise to consider the"bad" things that could happen while on-the-clock (in advance - not while your shooting) .....& think about how you will handle them. This will give you confidence on the line.

Slim
